Prof. KATO Hirofumi  ​

KATO Hirofumi was born in Hokkaido, Japan.
My archaeological career began in 1985. 

In my graduate studies took at the Graduate school of History and Anthropology, University of Tsukuba, Japan.
Then, I conducted and taught archaeology and Area Studies at the University of Tsukuba, the University of Shimane,

and Hokkaido University (from 2001).
In October 2010, he took up the professor of archaeology at the Centre for Ainu & Indigenous Studies, Hokkaido University.

Also, I have been appointed as the director of the centre since April 2020.

 

1966年北海道夕張市生まれ
1996年に筑波大学大学院博士課程歴史・人類学研究科を満期退学。
筑波大学大学院地域研究研究科、島根県立大学北東アジア研究センターにを経て、2001年から北海道大学大学院文学研究科北方文化論講座で考古学を担当。2010年10月から北海道大学アイヌ・先住民研究センターにて考古学担当教授に就任。2020年4月からセンター長を兼務。
