I'm a professor of archaeology in Centre for Ainu & Indigenous studies, Hokkaido University, Japan.
Also, we have Master & Doctor course in the field of Indigenous Archaeologies and Indigenous Heritage Study.
At this moment, I am conducting several international joint research projects on Indigenous archaeology, Prehistoric archaeology, and Indigenous archaeological heritage.
MY LATEST RESEARCH
International Research Networks for Indigenous Studies and Cultural Diveristy Project (Project IRIS) undertaken by a team of scientists from Hokkaido University's Center for Ainu & Indigenous Studies and other institutions was adopted by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) as 2018 Core-to-Core Program (Advanced Research Networks) for five years. The project is intended to support the establishment of a cross-disciplinary research center that will elucidate the history of relations between people and the environment in northern regions and foster the development of young researchers.
北海道大学アイヌ・先住民研究センター先住民考古学研究室では、礼文島での国際考古学フィールドスクールを2011年から実施しています。
毎年、20名を超える海外からの学生・院生を中心に考古学、古環境学、生物学、分子遺伝学、同位体科学など様々な領域の研究者たちが集い、縄文文化からアイヌ文化へつながる北海道の歴史変遷の復元に取り組んでいます。
また日本学術振興会研究拠点事業（先端拠点型）として採択された「文化的多様性の形成過程の解明を目指した国際先住民研究拠点の構築」事業（PROJECT IRIS）を英国、オランダ、スウェーデン、ロシア、オーストラリア、台湾、カナダの７カ国の研究機関と連携し、領域横断型の研究拠点と若手研究者の育成を行っていきます。
